Writing in the K-2 Classroom
Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 have been closely looking at a variety of picture books and interesting poems which use word play, including rhyme, onomatopoeia and similes. Using this learning the students have planned, written, edited and published their own descriptions of a special person. They have also created illustrations of their special person using collages of items they used to describe their special person.

Week 8
This week we spent time planting leek and cabbage seedlings, as well as preparing one of the garden beds for some new apple trees and broad beans. We harvested eggs, herbs, turnips, leeks, daikon, carrots, parsnips and silverbeet.
In the kitchen we cooked potato and turnip hash browns, Mexican style baked breakfast beans, tortilla chips, guacamole, sour cream with chives and baked Amish style oatmeal with apples, pears and raspberries.
Cooking Award: Congratulations to Jack Duckett for fantastic hash brown flipping.
Week 9
Due to the wet weather, gardening was inside. We began using our imaginations to brainstorm ideas for 2 future garden beds. Watch this space for future updates. We harvested eggs, silverbeet, carrots, kale, shallots and used yellow cherry tomatoes from the freezer.
In the kitchen we cooked beetroot vegetarian burgers with homemade soft burger buns, burger toppings and sauces. For dessert we made coconut biscuits and kiwi ice-cream.
Cooking Award: Congratulations to Kai Chambeyron for amazing beetroot peeling.
