Principal's Message
A pleasing start to the term last week with students returning refreshed and eager for the weeks ahead. We have an exciting line up of learning activities planned including, a Taronga Zoomobile visit, Stage 3 Sydney excursion, mushroom growing, athletics carnivals and the commencement of our transition program for children starting school in 2024.
We would like your feedback please. Last week all families should have received a survey link via email. We are keen to gather your feedback on the student reports sent home at the end of Term 2. Please complete this very short survey to assist us in preparing reports that clearly outline student progress, strengths and goals for parents.
Three-way parent/teacher/student interviews will take place in Week 4. I encourage all families to book a time to speak with us about their child's learning strengths and goals.
This week I would like to acknowledge the Dorrigo CWA for their recent donation of fleece lap blankets. A soft and cozy addition to our reading corners. Thank you!
Leah Keough

Term 2 Assembly
Thank you for visiting for our end of term Assembly. K-2 shared some of their language learning by singing 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' in Gumbaynggirr and 3-6 demonstrated their fantastic drumming skills on the djembe drums. Our Year 6 Captains, Lucy and Quill spoke fluently and with clarity while conducting the assembly. Congratulations to all award recipients.
Thank you to our parents who participated in the athletic relay events with our students following the assembly. Great fun was had by all.
Congratulations to the students who triumphed on the day - winning 2 to 1. That now puts parents and students in a tied position of 1 to 1. Our Term 3 sports afternoon will be the decider!
NAIDOC Day on the Plateau
K-1 Recount
We went to the High School on the big bus for NAIDOC Day. First we lined up in mobs with kids from other schools. Each mob had an animal or insect name. Then we saw three flags raised and we put our decorated hands in the grass. We got to walk in the smoke and had fruit.
Each group did four activities. These included painting, indigenous games, bush tucker and damper making. The older groups did different activities to us.
At recess and lunchtime we got to play at the soccer field. We got a hot sausage sandwich. It was fantastic and a super fun day!

Week 10 - Term 2
This week we continued to work on our unique garden designs. We harvested eggs, herbs, daikon, carrots and silverbeet.
In the kitchen we made sandwiches for lunch as well as special toppings for our attendance award. These included warm caramel sauce, warm chocolate fudge sauce, tuiles, little meringues and our very own homemade sprinkles which we put on our ice-cream sundaes.
Week 1 - Term 3
Last week as small group of students were productive in the garden. We planted two lots of broad beans and some snap peas. We harvested eggs (amazing hard working chooks), silverbeet, parsnips, leeks, kale, shallots and herbs.
In the kitchen we cooked vegetable soup with crusty french-style bread rolls, mixed vegetable fritters and a moist lemon cake for dessert.
Cooking Award: Congratulations to Tom Duckett for doing an exemplary job in the kitchen.
Mushroom Growing
5/6 has put together their two mushroom kits and are ready to embark on their mushroom learning. Watch this space.
District Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to Lucy Tyler and Quill Pankhurst who have qualified for the next level of competition which will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 25 July at Bellingen High School. Good luck to you both!
