Principal's Message
I'm excited to be in Sydney this week with Nikita, Lucy, Quill, Katherine and the Stage 3 group from Dorrigo PS. We have an action-packed itinerary for the week with visits planned for the Sydney Cricket Ground, Taronga Zoo, Sea Life Aquarium, the Powerhouse Museum and Cockatoo Island. Thank you to Dorrigo PS for inviting us to attend this excursion- we are pleased to join you for a wonderful learning experience. I'm sure we'll all be a little weary on Friday night when we return home. Stay tuned to the school Facebook page for updates.
We congratulate Quill on his recent success at the Mid North Coast Athletics Carnival. 4th place in Long Jump and 6th place in the 200m final. Quill will attend the next level of competition at the North Coast Carnival on Friday 1 September at Lismore for the Long Jump event. Best wishes!
Parents and friends are welcome to join us for our Book Parade on Tuesday 29 August at 9:15am. Following the parade, Mrs Sangster will share one of this year's CBCA shortlisted books.
Miss McNeill will commence three weeks leave this week to have an operation on her knee. We will welcome Mrs Tracey Gardner to our school for this time.
Have a great week.
Leah Keough

On Friday we welcomed a group of architecture and urban planning students and staff from Monash University.
The group is currently visiting our local area to support the Clarence Valley Fire to Flourish Placemaking program.
We loved making a 3D spatial triorama model to creatively explore options to make our community even better.
Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden News
Week 4
This week we planted 2 heritage apple trees to espalier, watered our new olive trees and citrus, and planted shallots, turnips and silverbeet. We harvested eggs, herbs, rhubarb, kale, celery tops and silverbeet.
In the kitchen we cooked carrot and silverbeet risotto, with herb and garlic pull-apart bread, lemonade, apple and rhubarb crumble with vanilla custard for dessert.
Cooking Award: Congratulations to Charlie McGuire for amazing bread making and leadership in cooking.
Week 5
No gardening last week as we were being creative in our Fire to Flourish workshop. We harvested eggs, leeks, beetroot and lots of yummy mushrooms that our 5/6 students have grown.
In the kitchen we cooked Chinese omlette with mushrooms from the grow kits in 5/6, special beetroot pink pancakes and Amish style baked oats with apple, cinnamon and raspberry.
Cooking Award: Congratulations to Nash Chambeyron for amazing pancake making and flipping.
Green and Gold for the Matildas
We had fun wearing green and gold last week in support of the Matildas.
Kindergarten Transition Program
Our next transition day is this Thursday, 24 August from 1.30pm to 3.15pm.
Preschool Afternoons
Our next Preschoolers afternoons will be on Wednesday 6 September from 1.30pm to 3.15pm. Bring along a packed lunch/snack to join in with lunch and play with our students. Then there will be educational activities that help develop gross and fine motor skills as well as art and craft. All preschool children aged 1-5 welcome.
Book Week Parade
We will be celebrating Book Week next week on Tuesday 29 August. The theme for this year is "Read, Grow, Inspire". Children can come dressed as any book character or something that matches the theme for this year. Parents are welcome to watch the parade under the COLA starting at 9.15am, followed by Mrs Sangster reading a book to us all from this year's shortlisted books.
