Principal's Message
Welcome to week 8.
Welcome Gubi Gabun-Early Childhood Playgroup
Term 3 will see fortnightly Gubi Gabun play sessions held right here at Dundurrabin Public School. How exciting! Gubi Gabun is a mobile service providing quality early childhood educational play sessions for children and their families. All preschool children are welcome to attend. Please see the flyer below in today's newsletter for play dates.
Director Educational Leadership Visit
It was our pleasure to welcome Mr Dafydd Thomas, Director Educational Leadership to Dundurrabin last week. Mr Thomas enjoyed a tour of our learning spaces, and a shared kitchen garden lunch with our students and staff. I was pleased to speak with him about our schools current teaching and learning focuses and the learning growth occurring as a result.
Student Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews
Semester one student reports will be sent home during week 10. This year our teachers are writing the reports using our new administration system, 'School Bytes'. Although the reports may look slightly different, they will continue to report on student effort and achievement across the key learning areas. Feedback from our parents and carers will soon be sought to adjust the reports, where needed, so that they provide clear and accurate information about each child in a parent friendly manner.
Parent teacher interviews will be scheduled for early in term 3 to discuss student learning progress and goals. In the meantime, please remember to reach out to us if you have any questions about your child's learning or time at school.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
The NCCD will be taking place in the coming weeks. No action is required from parents and carers, however more information about the data collection is included in an information sheet further in today's newsletter.
Have a great week.
Leah Keough

Attendance Reminder-Late Arrivals & Early Departures

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden News
Week 6
In the garden, we dug, weeded, and added extra nutrition to the soil. Then we planted garlic, peas and added supports to hold up our broad bean plants.
We harvested beetroots, shallots, snow peas, beetroot leaves, lettuce leaves and herbs.
In the kitchen we cooked super soft enriched burger buns, beetroot and bean burger patties, potato and pumpkin waffle hash browns, as well as smokey mayonnaise and barbeque sauce to top our burgers with. We also enjoyed some of our show winning pickles, and some fresh lettuce from the garden. For dessert we enjoyed a fruit platter.
Cooking Award: Henry Tyler for amazing focus and persistence in the kitchen. Well done!
Week 7
Two weeks in a row of gardening, yay! We enthusiastically prepared and fertilised garden beds before planting onions, cauliflowers and sweet peas as well as refining our broad bean supports.
We harvested Jerusalem artichokes, some small, sweet potatoes, shallots, radishes, lemons, lemon verbena and parsley.
In the kitchen we cooked extruded rigatoni pasta with a roasted pumpkin and caramelised onion sauce, Greek lemon potatoes with Jerusalem artichokes, radish carpaccio with a lemon and parsley vinaigrette, and a lemon verbena drizzle cake for dessert, with a fruit platter for after sport.
Cooking Award: There were so many outstanding little chefs in the kitchen, which makes it really hard to choose one for the weekly award. You all deserve a big pat on the back, and I hope you make picking an award easier next week!
Wind Powered Vehicles
We think these wind powered vehicles, made by our K-2 scientists, will be the future of travel. What do you think?
Multiplying Mandarins!
K-2 took to the citrus trees to support their learning of multiplication arrays last week. A timely maths problem solving activity to beat the critters nibbling on our tasty mandarins.
STEM Rocks!
Ms Cunningham's STEM lessons really do rock! Fossil moulds, rock stacking challenges, rocks under the microscope, and rock research. Fridays are really rocking!
Gumbaynggirr Language Learning
We're learning about acknowledging country in our Gymbaynggirr language lessons with Lesley.
Art Mural with Uncle Allan
Painting of our mural has commenced with Uncle Allan. A special treat each Tuesday afternoon.
Polygons and Symmetry
Mrs Bingle took K-2 on a shape searching adventure with a symmetry twist. Look at their accurate designs!
Marimba Madness
Our 3-6 marimba maestros are preparing for a marimba show. Get ready for some serious fun!
Years 5 & 6 - Lake Ainsworth Excursion
Our Year 5 & 6 students have been invited to join with Dorrigo Public School on an excursion to Lake Ainsworth from September 16 to September 20, 2024 (Week 9 - Term 3).
The total cost of the excursion is $646.00 per student. The school will contribute $100 towards the cost per student, reducing the remaining cost to $546.00 per student. There will be some fundraising opportunities that can be utilised to help reduce your child's cost.
Please get your $50.00 deposit into school as soon as possible. More fundraising details and consent notes as they arrive. Thank you to those families who have already paid.
