Principal's Message
Welcome to week 10- our final week for term 2.
Last week we farewelled Robyn Coombes, our long-term School Learning Support Officer. During this time of sadness, we send our sincere condolences to Robyn's family and our community. She was certainly valued for her contributions to our school and the wider community. Robyn's care for our students and support of our staff was second to none. It was our pleasure to spend Saturday afternoon with Robyn's family and friends to celebrate her life and to share fond memories together.
K-2 Change of Routine
Mrs Sangster will commence an early holiday this week, returning in week 2 of next term. Our K-2 class will have Mr Williamson and Miss Jones as their teachers during this time. Enjoy your holiday Mrs Sangster!
End of term celebrations
We certainly have a busy week planned to finish the term. Please join us on Tuesday afternoon from 2pm for our end of term assembly and sports match between parents and students. On Wednesday we are heading to Dorrigo High School for our annual NAIDOC on the Plateau event. We will enjoy a day of cultural activities including- sand art, dance, music, damper cooking, language lessons, traditional games and bush tucker. To finish the week, we'll be preparing a NAIDOC themed lunch at school on Friday. Katherine has prepared a tantalising menu for us to share.
Best wishes for an enjoyable holiday break.
Leah Keough

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden News
Week 8
In the garden, we only had a short session but managed to water, harvest produce and do an amazing job cleaning up the garden shed. We have some very tidy and organised children.
We harvested shallots, snow peas, silverbeet of varying colours, garlic chives, celery sticks and carrots.
In the kitchen we cooked vegetable sushi, rice paper rolls, choko fritters (thanks Laz), ricotta and feta mini scrolls and soft and fluffy pumpkin pie cookies, which smelled and tasted like fresh cinnamon donuts.
We have attached the recipe because they were so good! We cooked and mashed our own pumpkin from the garden .
Cooking Award was very hard to choose again this week, but Congratulations to Tom Duckett in all aspects of the kitchen garden program. You are a star!
Week 9
In cooking we celebrated the life Robyn Coombes, and all of her contributions to our school community. She always loved helping with our Kitchen Garden Program, and was never seen without a big cup of tea and a snack. So today, we cooked a high tea in her honour. We made a variety of little sandwiches with fillings such as cucumber, egg and lettuce, and cheese and tomato, a sour cream dip with veggies to dip, and we finished up with an array of sweets, brownies, scones with jam and cream, raspberry and lemon muffins, and a lemon and rhubarb (pink!) cordial. Robyn, you will be greatly missed by everyone.
We harvested lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, rhubarb, eggs, lemons, parsley, chives, garlic chives and used some home grown raspberries from the freezer.
In the garden we checked the rain gauge, fed the chooks, started trimming the hydrangeas, harvested lemons and picked the rest of the oranges before the possum consumed the lot!
Cooking Award: This week, our two cooking awards (which were extremely difficult to pick!) go to Henry and Charlie. Henry Tyler for his persistence and team contributions, and Charlie for his incredible sandwich making and eating skills.
Preschool Afternoon
What a turn out we had. It was great to see so many happy faces! We welcomed Angus, Chase, Lucy, Natasha, Tahn and Tyler to our last preschool afternoon of the term. We had a magical afternoon listening to 'The Magic Hat', predicting what will happen next, then getting the wiggles out with Danny Go before heading to the COLA for some more magical fun. Everyone enjoyed doing some magical drawing with bleach and tissue paper, creating colourful weavings and free drawing. Once we finished the art activities, we made some amazing towers, train tracks and Duplo creations.
This was our last school run Preschoolers afternoon. Next term we welcome Gubi Gabun who will be here at school to run playgroup every second Wednesday throughout Term 3 and Term 4. Please see the brochure further down the newsletter for these dates.
Students Writing & Artwork
While you are here for Assembly today, please drop into the office foyer and check out the writing and artworks on display. They look fantastic!
Gumbaynggirr Language Learning
In Lesley's language lessons we are learning about places and country names and what the colours of the Aboriginal flag represent.

Years 5 & 6 - Lake Ainsworth Excursion
Some of our Year 5 & 6 students will be joining with Dorrigo Public School for an excursion to Lake Ainsworth from September 16 to September 20, 2024 (Week 9 - Term 3).
The total cost of the excursion is $646.00 per student. The school will contribute $100 towards the cost per student, reducing the remaining cost to $546.00 per student.
Raffle tickets will be sent home this week with children attending the excursion. Tickets can be sold to help raise money to fund the excursion. Please do not lose these as they will need to be returned to school sold or unsold. The money your child raises will be deducted from their cost of the excursion. This is a great opportunity to help fund the excursion as well as the chance to win some fantastic prizes.
Families may wish to make weekly payment contributions towards the excursion as suits. Please remember the full cost of the excursion must be paid by Monday 9 September. More information and notes next term.
Book Week Parade - Term 3
