Principal's Message
Welcome to the final week of school for term 3. We welcome parents and friends to our term assembly on Thursday afternoon at 2pm. A parent v student tennis match will follow. Game, set, match!
Gubi Play Sessions- We need your help
We had a terrific turn out at our recent Gubi play session with 7 young children visiting our school for a morning of fun and games with Sue from Gubi Gabun Mobile Preschool. We are fortunate to have the Gubi play group trialling our school as a location for long term play sessions. To secure fortnightly play sessions beyond Christmas we must have at least 5 children attending each session. This is an excellent opportunity for our community and young people- I encourage families to join us as often as possible. Dates further in today's newsletter.
Teachers are Lead Learners
Last week Mrs Bingle and I were fortunate to attend a professional learning session with Dr Lyn Sharratt, a highly accomplished education practitioner, researcher, author, and presenter. Our learning focused on 'the right things to do right' to increase achievement for all students and teachers. We are keen to implement our new learning here at Dundurrabin and across our local schools as we continue to promote learning success.
Spring Holidays
I wish all families a relaxing and enjoyable spring holiday break. Please note there is no school development day at the start of term 4. Students and staff commence together on Monday 14 October. Term 4 is certainly shaping up to be busy, yet exciting. I look forward to spending it with you.
Have a great week!
Leah Keough
Every Day Matters
Attendance Matters
Please remember to explain all days away from school. This can be done in person, by phoning the school or sending a text to the school mobile: 0411 939 188.
Attendance Reminder-Late Arrivals & Early Departures
If your child/ren arrive late to school in the morning, please remember to sign them in the register book in the office. Alternatively, you can let a staff member know the reason to why they are late, and we will update the roll. This also applies for early departures from school in the afternoon. All partial absences must be explained the same as for a whole day absence. Thank you.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden News
Week 8
It was very exciting this week as those children who grew seedlings for our Airgarden got to place them in the tower and press 'go' on the pump set up. The rest of the children learnt about the system we have borrowed and planted some seeds ready for the second tower.
We harvested eggs, kale, silverbeet, shallots, lots of parsley, garlic chives and pumpkin.
In the kitchen we cooked falafel pita pocket breads, fresh hommus, sumac and spice roasted pumpkin and carrots and yummy chocolate custard puddings for dessert.
Week 9
This week we repotted our lime tree, gave our orange and mandarins a good soak and did lots and lots of weeding ready for planting next week.
We harvested beautiful lettuces, lots of eggs, lemons, donated oranges, used some pumpkin in storage and picked some blooming flowers to decorate the tables.
For our smaller cohort, we enthusiastically prepared egg and lettuce sandwiches, lemon and orange cordial and a delicious pumpkin cake drizzled with orange juice.
Thank you to Dot for donating some potatoes and to McGregor Gourlay in Dorrigo for a bag full of various vegetable seeds to plant in our SAKG gardens.
Years 5 & 6 - Lake Ainsworth Excursion
5/6 certainly enjoyed their camp adventure at Lake Ainsworth last week.
Can we get our Ozobots to stay on track and do tricks?
Our technology afternoon last Thursday saw the Ozobots come to life. Our students stepped up to the challenge of coding a path with tricks for the bots to follow. Using blue, black, green and red marking pens our clever coders drew tracks for the bots to follow. We were keen to see that a pattern of blue, black, blue makes the bot go really fast!
P&C Special Lunch Day - Tomorrow
We are very lucky to be having another Special Lunch day tomorrow, Tuesday 24 September.
The menu will be hamburgers and ice-cream.
If you have not ready paid for your child's order, please do so by tomorrow.
Term 3 Assembly & Sports Afternoon
Please join us this Thursday 26 September at 2pm for our Term 3 Assembly. Students will present some of their
learning from the term followed by a skipping extravaganza. After assembly we will be holding a Parents verse Students friendly game of modified tennis. Please come along and join the fun. The students love getting the chance to play against the adults.
School Photos - First Tuesday Back, Term 4
Our 2024 school photos will be Tuesday 15 October. This is the first Tuesday back after the Term 3 holidays. All students will need to wear their best school uniform and a big smile for our school photos. So that everyone looks their best, we are asking that students please wear their sports shirts and full uniform (navy shorts or trousers). We also ask that students refrain from wearing long, multicoloured socks on that day. Short, dark or white socks would be preferred.
Individual order forms have been sent home with your child/ren. Please do not lose them as each student is only provided with one which will have a unique code.
Envelopes must be returned by this Thursday 26 September with payment either enclosed or paid online to the photographer.
2024 Learning Contributions
Learning Contributions for 2024 remain the same
- Voluntary School Contribution - $30.00 for the costs of student items provided by our school
- SAKG Program Fees - $40.00. This goes towards our SAKG program which has ongoing costs each week, such as cooking ingredients for our weekly lunch meal, seeds and seedlings.
Please phone the school if you are unsure to whether you have paid or not. Thank you to those families who have already paid.
